Psychiatry Training

Psychiatry_Training.jpgThe University of Washington Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences offers education in Psychiatry through our Psychiatry Residency Program's Seattle and Idaho Tracks and through post-residency fellowships.

Our Psychiatry Residency Program is among the largest in the country. It offers well-rounded, evidence-based clinical training, a rich array of research opportunities, and attention to the development of each resident’s career interests and leadership skills. We emphasize care of underserved individuals with mental disorders in urban and rural settings across our region, and integration of mental health and medical care.

The department offers ACGME-accredited subspecialty fellowships in Addiction Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, and in Psychosomatic Medicine. In addition, ACGME-accredited fellowships in Pain Medicine, Palliative Care, and Sleep Medicine are offered by other departments at the University of Washington and are open to those who have completed psychiatry residency training.

Our department also offers a wide array of other post-residency clinical and research fellowships.

We invite you to explore our psychiatry training opportunities and welcome your interest in our programs!
