Ripley Memorial Lecture

The Ripley Memorial Lecture honors those whose work encompasses broad aspects of psychiatric research. Herbert S. Ripley, MD, served with dedication and distinction as the first Chairman of our Department from 1949 to 1969. Throughout his tenure, he achieved a reputation for excellence in teaching, service and research. Dr. Ripley’s kindness, interest, and concern for people endeared him to the Department. Under his leadership, the Department grew from the original three regular faculty and a clinical staff of thirteen to over 140 academic faculty and several hundred clinical faculty. We are grateful for this endowment and will continue to use it in ways that honor Dr. Ripley’s exceptional leadership and service during his tenure as the first Chair of our department.
